Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Mat of the Mint); Carmen. Bongani is a tenor soloist with the Umtata Voices of Joy choir. In 1999 he appeared in an Aids Awareness play at Eastern Cape Technikon.

Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Jenny Diver); Carmen. Helen has been in productions of Skilder, Plakboek, Little Shop of Horrors and West Side Story. She played The Lottery Agent in The Silverlake.

Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Mrs Vixen); Carmen. Singer and soloist for the Siyakhula Choral Group in East London. When she moved to Cape Town she sang in the UCT Choir for Africa, then Heavenly Voices in the same roles.

Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Dolly Trull); Carmen. Portia trained at Sibikwa Community Theatre Project and Moving Into Dance, and is an educational dance teacher.

CAMILLA DRIVER Woman / Thaddius
Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Betty Sly); Carmen. Camilla received a BMUS degree in 1997 from the University of Cape Town. She led the orchestra for the Company's performance of Carmen for President Mbeki, in Johannesburg. She received a post-graduate diploma in performance at the end of 2001.

LUSINDISO DUBULA Angel / Lazarus
Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Morgan Mandrake); Carmen. Tenor soloist for the Bel-Canto Singers in Zwelitsha in King William's Town. Currently Provincial Champion in school competition. Nationally he is the replacement No.2 for Eastern Cape. He also sings Una romosa at Durban.

PAULINE DU PLESSIS Elizabeth / Angel
Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Auntie); Carmen. Pauline trained at the Pretoria Technikon Opera School and Capab Studio. She has appeared in Die Entfürung aus dem Serail, Orfeo, The Student Prince, Cendrillon and Rigoletto. She sang Fennimore in The Silverlake.

HERMAN HARDICK Cain / Pilate
Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Player); Carmen, and he played Olim in The Silverlake at the Spier Summer Festival. Herman has a BA (Drama) from the University of Stellenbosch. He has been in productions of Evita, Chicago, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Student Prince. He played Lt. Schrank in West Side Story.

KURT HAUPT Adam / Simon the Leper
Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Slippery Sam); Carmen. Kurt trained at the University of Cape Town and is a student of Virginia Davids. He is director of the youth choir at Comart. He was a soloist in the Sing-it-yourself Messiah, Baxter Theatre and musical director of Grease in 1999. He has appeared in Evita, The Student Prince, Don Giovanni and The Merry Widow, and was Enoch Snow in Carousel. and Tony in West Side Story.

STEVEN HICKS Abraham / Judas
Also for SAAPA / Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Beggar); Carmen (Corporal Morales). Steven has a Drama (Hons) qualification from the National School for the Arts and a Performers Diploma from the University of Cape Town. He has appeared in Boyband, The Merry Widow, M. Butterfly, Orphans of Qumbu and Carousel.

THEMBELA JAMES Soldier / Shepherd
Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Nathan Redriff, constable); Carmen. Started singing with Voices Gaudii Choral in 1994 and became an educator for the choir in 1997. Thembela was trained in Cape Town Opera House as a CTP member in 1999.

Joined the Cape Town Opera Choral Training Programme in 1994, Cape Town Vocal Ensemble in 1998 and Cape Town Opera Studio in 2000. His roles include Robins in Porgy & Bess at the State Theatre Pretoria, Monostatos in The Magic Flute, Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi and Der Schreiber in Tannhauser.

Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Edgworth Ben); Carmen. Mvuyisi is a tenor soloist for Vumaningoma Choristers, and trained as a soloist by Hendrika Kriger in 1998 in Johannesburg. In August 1999 he was an observer in World Opera South Africa at the Pretoria Stage Theatre.

MPONTSENG NYATSA Woman Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Mrs Slammerkin); Carmen (Mercedes). Starting singing at school and church. Currently doing a third year in music at the University of UPE. Mpontseng is the PE Technikon soloist and also sings in the UPE choir.

Also for SAAPA/Witton's: The Beggar's Opera (Mrs Trapes); Carmen. Started singing at school and joined the Cape Town Training Program in 1998. She has performed in a number of operas including Norma, Tales of Hoffman, Carmen, Don Giovanni, Carmen Jones and played The Other Woman in Porgy & Bess.

Also for SAAPA/Wilton's: The Beggar's Opera (Tom Tipple); Carmen (Lieutenant Zuniga). Trained at the Opera Studio, Cape Town Opera and studied with Marita Napier. In 1998 he joined the Cape Town Opera Ensemble and appeared in Don Giovanni, La Boheme Noir, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Porgy & Bess and Carmen Jones.
